Pattern of behavior I was very sad to see the story in July 20 Acorn about the city of Agoura Hills having to pay ouover $700,000 plus attorney fees to our local business owners. Unfortunately this is a long pattern over many years by the city in the way they treat the business community. Many years ago, Agoura Hills went all the way to the State Supreme Court and lost again and had to pay over one million of our tax dollars to local businesses for denying their ability to have their own signs displayed. Now the city is appealing the HescheWest Day School project and threatening to once again use our tax dollars to sue to stop a school Agoura Hills is the only city in the region that does not support their Chamber of Commerce. Most cities such as Calabasas, Westlake Village and Thousand Oaks give an average of well over $50,000 or more to their Chambers to promote business. The city recently gave out many grants to community organizations and the Agoura Chamber was not included. Next year the voters will have a choice on who they want running their city. Louis Masry, President, Agoura/Oak Park/ Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce |
