Doesn't believe 'tacky' request

In response to the July 13 letter "Tacky parents request gifts," I was both shocked and dismayed to read that one would indicate "the price of admission" to attend a bar/bat mitzvah. That would be the epitome of poor taste and I continue to remain so flabbergasted and disgusted that I question its authenticity. Gloria Weinstein Calabasas
