Humble servant It seems that we are always quick to write or phone when we feel that we have reason to complain about things that do not appear to be up to standards, however, we seldom seem to find the time recognize and speak out when things are done exceptionally well. I live very near to Deerhill Park and for many years the park was not well maintained and I myself wrote letters of complaint on various occasions. But I walk Deerhill Park at least three or four days a week and I must say that in the last six months or so the park has never looked better and the primary reason for this has become quite obvious to me. There is a very pleasant and very hard working gentleman in charge of maintenance in the park now Monday through Friday and I think his name is Steve although I may have the name wrong. This man never stops for a moment except to say hello as I pass. He apparently maintains the park single handedly, cutting the grass, trimming and shaping the trees and shrubs, fixing or replacing sprinkler heads that have been non-functioning for years and seeing that the entire park is properly watered daily in accordance with the weather conditions. The improvement is quite noticeable. It is quite obvious that he takes exceptional pride in his work and in 'his' park. In my opinion the park hasn't looked this well maintained since it was new. This gentleman, who I assume works for Rancho Simi, is a major asset to our Oak Park Community and his extraordinary hard work and pride in maintaining this park should be publicly acknowledged. Thanks Steve, and I do hope I have your name right because I for one do not take your hard work and care for granted. Ray Stein Oak Park |
