Youth soccer camp in Westlake

Local soccer coaches Bill Propster and Frank Marino will conduct a soccer camp for ages 5 through 13 at Westlake High School July 31 through Aug. 4.

The camp will focus on improving players' skills for the upcoming season.

It's Propster and Marino's philosophy that young players learn best when having fun. The camp focuses on teaching ball control and dribbling, shooting, passing and receiving and fundamental tactics while playing fun smallsided games.

During these games, the players will get hundreds of touches on the ball in a competitive situation. A different skill is emphasized each day. Propster is the boys' soccer

coach at Westlake and Marino is the girls' soccer coach at the school. Both also coach at local colleges and youth clubs and each has over 20 years of coaching and playing experience.

Propster and Marino have United States Soccer Federation Coaching licenses. Local college, high school and club coaches and players will assist them.

This is the 11th year of the camp and past campers have used these freshly honed skills to their advantage with AYSO, club and school soccer teams.

The camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon each day. The cost of the camp is $115.
