Six youth teams show what it takes to be champions


BASEBALL POWERHOUSE IN AGOURA-The Agoura Pony Baseball Bronco team recently won the district championship at Simi Valley. The boys in blue now advance to the section tournament at Hart High School in Newhall. WOW!-The WAGS U-8 Lightning completed the 2006 All-Star season with their third championship at the Escondido Freedom Tournament. STAR POWER-More than 20,000 girls ages 12 to 18 have just departed from Reno, Nev.,  after competing in  the  largest female athletic tournament in  the world. The annual Reno Volleyball Festival is a weeklong tournament that attracts the top teams in  the  nation and abroad. All  of  the  junior  girls'  volleyball clubs from the Conejo Valley,  San Fernando Valley  and  Camarillo  areas  had  teams  represented  in  the tournament. The girls' U-15 team from the Reef Volleyball Club, pictured above, was one of only two local squads to have progressed far enough through the weeklong elimination rounds to reach the Silver bracket and play for the Silver championship.
