What's wrong with flags?

I read with disbelief the letter by Larry Brown of Agoura Hills. We live in Calabasas and just prior to the Fourth of July, our street, like Brown's, was adorned with American flags. In our opinion, it was truly a beautiful sight to see, our street lined from one end to the other with the little flags.

In fact, my wife took the name of the realtor and called them on the phone to thank them for their patriotic gesture. None of the flags on our street were "run over by cars" or "hosed into the ground by gardeners."

This was certainly not a "cheesy display of salesmanship," nor does it even remotely resemble desecration of the American flag. We welcome the flags and hope the tradition continues in future years to celebrate our nation's birthday. Robert L. West Calabasas
