Reader says not all parents are 'tacky' You printed a letter from Deedra Hart regarding an alleged bar mitzvah invitation revealing a lack of knowing the meaning of a gift. Of what value or significance is this letter to our community? There are many tacky gift requests for weddings, showers and other occasions, and yet I have seen no mention of them in the paper-and there should not be. What is The Acorn's intention in including such a personal, tacky response in a community newspaper? Is there some value in making your readers aware that someone in the Agoura Jewish community has no understanding or judgment of the word "gift?" Elyse Eisner Westlake Village Editor's note: The letter, "Tacky parents request gifts," stated one person's frustration with a bar mitzvah invitation that sup- posedly requested no gifts under $50 be given. |
