Likes Calabasas smoking ordinance

My family and I enjoyed a special day together last Saturday. I usually work weekends, but was off on that weekend, so we decided to go to a matinee. We chose The Commons in Calabasas because we love the theater and outdoor atmosphere.

After the movie, we went over to Coldstone for an ice cream. While sitting outside, enjoying the fresh air and ice cream, we were suddenly overcome by cigarette smoke. My children were waving their hands and coughing. Remembering the smoking ordinance, I looked around for the smoker. A man was standing about 10 feet from us, smoking a cigarette.

I went over to him and discreetly informed him of the law. I spoke to him politely and quietly. He graciously apologized and moved on. There were no angry words or confrontations and all were happy.

Thank you to the city of Calabasas. You are a pioneer, truly an innovator and definitely ahead of your time. You truly care about the health and welfare of your citizens. Lori Andrews Oak Park
