Getting personal

At the Westlake Village City Council meeting last Wednesday evening I was completely disgusted by the personal attack made by Barry Florence on Jess Ruf, owner of the Do-it Center.

We are talking about a gentleman who has been in business in the Agoura and Thousand Oaks community for over 35 years and has been an excellent example of how all business owners and businesses should be.

Over the years Jess has constantly given back to his community. When Santa comes to Agoura, where does he go? The Do-it Center. He supports local law enforcement, the chamber of commerce and local schools, just to name a few. The only motivation that I can think of is that Mr. Florence must be jealous of Mr. Ruf and his accomplishments.

What is Mr. Ruf's motivation? He has about 100 employees, with quite a few who have worked more than 20 years, who count on him for a job each week so they can feed their families and put a roof over their heads. We all know you can't live on the meager salaries that would be offered by Lowe's. We should all be so fortunate to have a boss like Mr. Ruf. Cheryl Tabbi Westlake Village
