Recreation activities abound in Agoura Hills

The city of Agoura Hills Department of Community Services and Neftin Westlake Volkswagen/Volvo have announced the third concert in the summer "Concerts in the Park" series featuring "Yesterday: A Tribute to the Beatles." The concert will be at 6 p.m. Sun., July 23 at Chumash Park, 5550 Medea Valley Drive, Agoura Hills. Admission is free.

Registration is still being accepted for a variety of "Sports Camps" for ages 10 to 14. The head coaches of Agoura High School's soccer and basketball teams will offer a basketball camp from July 31 to Aug. 4; soccer camp is from Aug. 7 to 11. Camp hours are 9 a.m. to noon. All camp activities are at Agoura High School.The cost of each camp is $110.

Registration is still being accepted for "Kindergarten Readiness Program," held in the Agoura Hills Community Room. The program meets twice a week for an hour.”Animal Phonics" will be offered on Mondays and Wednesdays from Aug. 2 to 23.The cost is $120 per child. Call for hours.

The city of Agoura Hills Department of Community Services will host a "Kid's Night Out" event from 6 to 10 p.m. Fri., Aug. 4 at the Agoura Hills Recreation Center, 30610 Thousand Oaks Blvd. Supervised by experienced camp counselors, the event offers a night of fun for youth ages 5 to 11. There will be pizza, a movie, a craft and games. Cost is $20 per child.

Enrollment is still open for the "Adventure Club" summer camp for youth ages 11 to 16. It is available Mondays and Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Fridays from 9 a.m. to4 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays are "High Adventure Days" and cost $45.Friday's trips cost $35 and include Knott's Soak City, Disneyland, California Adventure and Hurricane Harbor.

The Senior Recreation Program will offer a defensive driving course designed to brush up the skills of drivers of 55-plus years. The class will be offered on Tues., Aug. 29 from 9 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.at the Agoura Hills Recreation Center.

Adults must attend the entire day in order to receive credit for this course, which can help reduce auto insurance rates.The fee is $12 for Senior Center registrants or $14 for non-registrants.
