Conejo Valley YMCA names new executive director

Tim O'Connor is the new Conejo Valley YMCA executive director. He replaces Steve Willmont.

"After 12 years at the Conejo Valley YMCA, Steve decided to change careers," said John Rutherford, president of the Southeast Ventura County YMCA, which oversees the Conejo YMCA.

"Steve was instrumental in creating a hugely success program at the Conejo Valley YMCA. We wish him the very best and know that he and his family will stay very involved in YMCA activities."

O'Connor was executive director at the West Valley YMCA in Reseda for four years and has been involved with YMCAs for more than 16 years in various capacities.

O'Connor has a number of major projects on his plate.

"Tim will play an integral role in launching the new Miller Family YMCA in Dos Vientos currently under construction," said Rutherford.

O'Connor also has plans for the current YMCA facility on Moorpark Road in Thousand Oaks.

"We're going to give the Y a major facelift, upgrade the fitness facility and offer a child watch program so kids are in a safe environment while their parents are working out," O'Connor said. He also wants to increase membership and introduce more youth sports and classes.
