Lindero Middle School student places high at golf tournament
Carson Caccamise Carson Caccamise, a sixthgrader who'll be attending Lindero Middle School in Agoura next year, competed in the Southern California State Golf Championship at Brookside Golf Course in Pasadena.
The tournament was held Wed., July 5, and also served as a world qualifying event.
Caccamise, competing in the 11-year-old division, achieved a top-25 finish and the top ranking from the local district.
"He showed up and played against some really good competition," his father Joe Caccamise said.
"It was a pretty entertaining and wild thing . . . He was playing against kids that play in 30 or 40 tournaments a year."
With long, shaggy hair, Caccamise doesn't look like the typical golfer. But when he hits the course for a tournament, good things always seem to happen.
"He's not the cookie-cutter, country club looking kid," Caccamise said. "He shows up in his own style with his own way." - Stephen Dorman
