Summer theater workshops help youth develop social skills

California Lutheran University and the Kingsmen Shakespeare Company offer summer theater workshops that are designed to increase self-awareness and develop group skills through theater training. The workshops feature Camp Shakespeare at beginning and advanced levels to introduce students to the acting and production side of the works of William Shakespeare.

Professional members of the Kingsmen Shakespeare Company, under the direction of actress Kristine Ritterbush, will provide the instruction in the continuing series of summer workshops.

+Session III: Camp Shakespeare (ages 8 to 12) is offered mornings, July 10 to 21.

+Session IV: Advanced Camp Shakespeare (ages 11 to 16) is offered afternoons, July 10 to Aug. 4. This is for advanced students and will include a production workshop and culminate in a performance on the Kingsmen Shakespeare Festival stage.

+Session V: Musical Theatre (ages 11 to 16) is offered mornings, July 24 to Aug. 4.

+Session VI: Acting for the Camera (ages 11 to 16) is offered mornings, July 24 to Aug. 4. Fees range from $285 to $600. For more information, call Ritterbush at (805) 493-3455.
