Westlake Village official showed genuine concern I would like to thank the Westlake Village City Council and Assistant City Manager Audrey Brown for their lightning fast response to a problem in the First Neighborhood. The restrooms at Bernice Bennett Park have been under remodel since March and won't be completed until the middle of July. The people using the park and the First Neighborhood pool have had to use two Porta-Johns for their bathroom needs. My wife, 4-year-old son and I use the park daily. We found the portable toilets a pretty unpleasant experience, as did many other residents that we spoke to, but figured there wasn't much else the city could do. As the months wore on, and the school year ended, the Porta-Johns got a lot more use and became increasingly unpleasant. They were not being pumped out often enough, and there was no place to wash your hands. I spoke with many residents that thought the toilets were so disgusting that they would not use them. On June 14 I went to city hall and spoke with Brown about this problem. She immediately agreed to double the pump-out schedule. I also asked her to upgrade the toilet facilities to ones with fresh water to wash with. She was reluctant to do that because of the costs involved. That evening I addressed the council about upgrading the toilets to ones with sinks and fresh water and the members agreed to look into it. The very next day we had new sinks, fresh water and paper towels. This is a greatly improved situation and we really appreciate the fast action of the city council and Assistant City Manager Audrey Brown. Colin Donahue Westlake Village erations. The above is also in addition to any equestrian facility, as currently envisioned in the AVSP. That facility will likely be brought to fruition to satisfy the traditionally powerful Old Agoura constituency-the same group that is vociferously anti-development with respect to the comparatively small Heschel School project, which the city council has chosen to oppose. Further, the AVSP allows the city council to increase the total amount of square footage in the AVSP, on a discretionary basis. It also allows the city council to increase the size of individual buildings from 30,000 to 60,000 square feet, on a discretionary basis. Your article suggests that the AVSP will result in half of what could have been built under the old zoning, and that is a gross misrepresentation, upon which your readers are, unfortunately, relying.
