Says dealing with Calabasas has been difficult

We need to watch every move our city council makes. I feel we can no longer depend on any of them to look out for this city's best interests. They appear to have their own agenda and dislike the rural nature our community has always enjoyed. They will even pass ludicrous laws just to get publicity.

The outdoor smoking law affects the lives of residents, visitors, property owners and merchants, but voters were not involved in this decision. Most ignore this law, but it could result in a costly lawsuit. California already has strict laws prohibiting smoking in all public buildings to protect health.

Carbon monoxide is extremely dangerous and patio dining in Calabasas is in a parking lot, a few yards from the 101 Freeway. If you are worried about your health, you should be dining indoors at these establishments. It is a fact that fried foods and grilled meats are carcinogenic. If the council doesn't like the smell and smoke from barbecues, it could pass a law requiring you grill only at designated barbecue stations. However, from the looks of our council, that most likely will not happen.

I recently dealt with the county of L.A. over the rear of my property and the city of Calabasas for the front. The county was informed, respectful and the problem resolved smoothly. The city was rude, insulting and misinformed. Dealing with the city of Calabasas is a nightmare. My heart goes out to Tostin and Fisher, who simply want to use their property in the manner intended.

For the first time, I wish we had not incorporated. Jackie Bogosian Calabasas
