Recreation opportunities in Agoura Hills

The city of Agoura Hills Department of Community Services offers the following programs for July. For more information on any event or to sign up, call the Agoura Hills Recreation Center at (818) 597-7361 or visit the center at 30610 Thousand Oaks Blvd., Agoura Hills.

There are openings for the summer Kindergarten Readi- ness Program which meets for an hour on Mondays and Wednesdays from Aug. 2 to 23in the Agoura Hills Community Room. The program teaches phonics and will introduce children to a fun learning environment. The cost is $120 per child.

The first of two Kid's Night Out sessions this summer will be on Fri., July 7. Kid's Night Out is supervised by experienced camp counselors and offers fun for children ages 5 to 11.Held at the Agoura Hills Recreation Center from 6 to 10 p.m., the program offers children a pizza dinner, a movie, a craft and games. The cost is $20 for one child or $40 for two or more children from the same family.

Registrations are still being accepted for a variety of Sports Camps for ages 4 to 15 years this summer.

Skyhawks Sports Academy will offer Parent & Me Sports Camp for ages 4 to 6 years and Mini Hawk Camp for ages 4 to 7 years the week of July 10 to 14. Participants will receive a personal evaluation, a camp Tshirt and a sport ball.

The city of Agoura Hills Department of Community Services continues to accept enrollments for its summer camp program for youth ages 11 to 16.

Adventure Club is on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m. to4 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays are "High Adventure Days" and cost $45.Friday's trips cost $35.

Upcoming trips include Knott's Soak City, Disneyland, California Adventure, and Hurricane Harbor. Adventure Club will meet at Yerba Buena Elementary School.

The city of Agoura Hills Department of Community Services and Neftin Westlake Volkswagen/Volvo announce the second concert in the summer Concerts in the Park series.

Reno Jones will be the featured artist performing at 6 p.m. Sun., July 9 at Chumash Park, 5550 Medea Valley Drive, Agoura Hills. The concert is free to the public. A fireworks show will follow the show at 8:45 p.m.The concert supporter is Waste Management/ G.I. Industries.
