Exceptional seniors leave lasting impression on Westlake High School
     Soo Yeon Kang Westlake salutatorian Soo Yeon Kang hopes to use her many gifts to improve the lives of others. After graduation, she's heading to Africa for a month with five members of her church to do missionary work, a possible precursor to a career in the medical field. Kang, who will be a freshman at Dartmouth College in the fall, said she'd like to become a medical missionary or an international doctor. A member of the varsity girls' basketball and golf teams, Kang also served as president of Ambassador's Club, Earth Club, Math Club and Advanced Anatomy Club.

Indian Hills outstanding students
     Shawna Edwards overcame many obstacles to graduate from high school. Her mother's job required that they move from town to town and school to school. In seventh grade alone, Shawna moved three times. At one point, Edwards lived with friends to stay in school and worked full time to support herself.      Jenna Grossman is a hard working student who loves to be involved in school activities. A firm believer in the importance of service, Grossman has served in student government for two years and is this year's senior vice president. A member of the girls' water polo team, Grossman is also a leader of the school's Fellowship of Christian Athletes Club. She plans to work her way through college, and aspires to become a teacher.      Erez Cohen is a man of diverse interests who enjoys both science and politics. In addition to his academic pursuits, Cohen also plays with an alternative rock band, Advanced Placement, which recently won the Oak Park High School Battle of the Bands and will be playing at the Canyon club tonight.      The city of Calabasas Community Services Department is offering classes for ages 5 to 12 in soap making and stained glass. Each Wednesday morning class is eight weeks (June 28 to Aug. 2) and costs $85 ($160 if a child is enrolled in both).
