Triangle Ranch poses triple threat The long-threatened Triangle housing tracts are back. CPO, the Cornell Preservation Organization, has been meeting with the developer, hoping to make this project more compatible with the area and the North Area Plan which governs it, but this has so far been very disappointing. When Los Angeles County planning commissioner Helsley and planning staff recommended alternative plans for about 40 homes, the developers have reduced the original plan by only a token amount. Sixty-six homes are proposed, including 60 homes in three tracts on both side of Kanan Road at the foot of Ladyface Mountain. These will require three new side roads off Kanan and a great deal of grading and destruction of habitat. The consequences for traffic, the viewscape and the environment are very serious. On Thurs., June 22 we are hosting a community meeting at the Malibou Lake Clubhouse to deliver an update on this alarming proposal and to prepare for the Planning Commission hearing. If you care for our area, please try to be there. It begins at 6 p.m. The Planning Commission hearing on June 28 may be our final and decisive opportunity to show our opposition to these proposed subdivisions and show how they will increase traffic, deface the gateway to the Santa Monica Mountains and hurt wildlife. Free transportation to the hearing is available from Agoura. We will meet in front of the Vons market at 7 a.m., and hope to return by 2 p.m. If you can attend, please leave your name, phone number and e-mail address at (818) 7340775. The commission needs to see that people really care. There is no substitute for being there. Colleen Holmes President, Cornell Preservation Organization |
