Sharpshair named director at CareNow

Ed Bjurstrom, founder of CareNow Foundation Inc. has appointed Carrie Sharpshair to serve as executive director for the organization.

CareNow is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to provide essential healthcare to the world's least served. CareNow was launched on April 26.

As executive director, Sharpshair will work closely with Bjurstrom and oversee all operational aspects of the organization.

Sharpshair's previous experience as a project manager at Amgen Inc. for eight years, implementing logistics business process and computerized systems, prepared her well for this new role.

"I needed someone capable of managing major international projects, and Carrie was the perfect candidate," said Bjurstrom. "She fully understands the vision of the organization and what it will take to fulfill the mission."

Sharpshair has experience working with start-up operations. She was the founder and president of Casual Cuisine Inc., a personal chef service in the Conejo Valley, until she sold the company in 2005.

She is the current owner of BRECS & Associates, a small business management consulting firm in Thousand Oaks, assisting small businesses in all phases of their corporate life cycle.

As a member of the Ventura County Professional Women's Network, Sharpshair currently serves on the board of directors and previously served two terms as executive secretary. In addition, she is active in the Thousand Oaks Chapter of Business Network International, having served as president for several terms.
