Oak Park and Oaks Christian net multiple All-League selections

Local names are all over the Tri-Valley's 2005-06 All-League selections.

In baseball, Oak Park senior Matt Alexander and juniors Blair Walters and Ty Muller were named to the Tri-Valley League's (TVL) first team.

Alexander batted a team-high .405 and scored 19 runs. Walters and Muller both hit over .360.

Doug Deakin, a senior outfielder, and sophomore Mitchell Halpert, who tied for the Eagle lead with 17 RBI, were named to the second team.

Honorable mention went to OPHS juniors Zach Granowitz and Jake Whitaker.

Leading Oak Park's softball team to a share of the TVL's regular-season championship were the Rice girls-senior catcher Kayla and freshman pitcher Julia Rice.

Both were named to the TVL's first team, as were senior infielder Kira Newman, junior outfielder Michelle Tabone, sophomore infielder Jennifer Colquhoun and freshman Rose Zeolla, who qualified as a designated player.

OPHS head coach Roger Newell was named the Tri-Valley League's Coach of the Year.

Junior Kylie Abrams struck out 46 batters in 36.1 inning of work. She made second team.

Eagle senior Michelle LeFrancois and sophomore Sarah Rosenberg received honorable mention for their work on the diamond.

La Reina had four girls make the first team, including league Most Valuable Player Brianna Jorgensborg. The others were pitcher Vicky Brown and infielders Ellie Eubank and Caitlin Rentler.

Second team recognition went to La Reina senior Brittany Hernandez, junior Kristen Torres and freshman Brynne Buchanan.

The Regents' Lauren Garcia and Catherine Surane received honorable mention. Moving on to boys' tennis,

Oaks Christian senior Zack Tsai was named the TVL's Most Valuable Player.

Tsai's Lion teammates, seniors Evan Hawkins and Michael Lee, were named first team.

Juniors Will Thompson and Oliver Allnat received honorable mention for the Oaks Christian boys' tennis squad.

Oak Park junior Stuart Fagan was named TVL first team, while his Eagle teammates, junior Adam Schall and sophomore Yooni Kim, earned second team honors.

Oak Park's Alex King was named league MVP in boys' golf.

Eagle sharpshooter Austin Levine made the first team.

Cole Pensanti and Chris Severn earned second team recognition for Oak Park, while Robbie Weinstein was honorable mention.
