Westlake Hills students to attend conference

Megan Cutaran and Joshua Goldberg will represent Westlake Hills Elementary School at the Junior National Young Leaders Conference in Washington D.C. from June 25 to 30. They were nominated by their fifth grade teachers, Sue Principe and Joni Simon.

Sponsored by the Congressional Youth Leadership Council, the conference offers mature, highachieving students the opportunity

to learn about leadership by studying the leaders of the past and focusing on social advocacy to make a positive impact in their homes and communities.

Through an examination of different historical time periods and characteristics of leadership, students gain a better understanding of the qualities of an effective leader.

Megan, 11, was recently honored by the Rotary Club as the out

standing student at Westlake Hills Elementary School. She swims for the Class Aquatics swim team and plays volleyball, surfs, skis and snowboards.

Joshua, 10, is president of the student council at Westlake Hills Elementary School. He is a two-time all star in Agoura Pony Baseball and is active in Lacombe Karate where he is a red/black belt and in training to test for his black belt later this year.
