Sumac Elementary School's 2006 GATE program concentrated this year on television production and is culminating with a broadcast premier on Adelphia Cable's local access channel, Channel 25, at 1 p.m. on Fri., June 9.

Six production units made up of fourthand fifthgrade students each conceived, pre-produced, produced and edited a three to fourminute television show.

"This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to not only learn about video production but to engage the creative process and realize a finished piece and event," said Karen Hansen, Sumac principal.

"It is absolutely amazing what these kids are able to do and how quickly they pick up new concepts and processes," said Julie Birkett, Sumac GATE coordinator. "They are so excited to see their shows on TV. So am I."

The program was taught by former television producer and FOX executive Jason Sikes.

The programs produced are:

+The Fall of Pompeii (Kaitlyn Moran, Rafael Sixtos, Kayla Womack, Kaitlyn Yi)

+When Nerds Collide (Garrett Cornell, Michael Florey, Cheyenne Moreau)

+What TO Do & What NOT to Do: Playground Edition (Michael Ambrose, Henry Beal, Morgan Miller)

+Be Quiet & Listen (Taylor Aronow, Emily Giovanelli, Eizabeth Rizor)

+Propal in Space (Kevin Adams, Bilbert Bao, Stav Dorkam)

+Magic Ink (Ben French, Carson Caccamise, Erik De Rossett).
