Take the bus Living in Agoura, Oak Park, Westlake and Thousand Oaks, we are all fortunate to have a bus line running on Thousand Oaks Boulevard. Metro Bus 161 travels all the way to the Woodland Hills Transit Center next to the Westfield Promenade Mall southbound (weekdays only) and I believe near The Oaks mall parking lot northbound. For $1.25 one way or $3 for an all day pass on any Metro bus or rail line, it's an inexpensive way to travel to and from work. Our bus 161 runs about once every hour and you can get the schedule and other info on www.mta.net. What makes this easier is that Metro has opened a new Orange line that connects the Valley to the North Hollywood Red Line from which in turn you can travel anywhere on the Blue, Gold and Green lines. All the L.A. attractions are accessible via Metro Rail. Going to LAX is easy also. Take Metro Bus 161 to Woodland Hills or you can drive to Woodland Hills and park near the Orange Line, then take the Orange Line to the Red Line to the Blue Line then to the Green Line and get off at Aviation Station. From there, take a free shuttle to your terminal. I just wanted to bring this up because there are many cars on the street due to the big car companies, celebrity influences and our egos. We should not be ashamed of taking public transportation because we live in well-off neighborhoods or because it's "uncool." I know sometimes it's not easy, taking public transport because you have to leave a few hours earlier than normal and sometimes it's not going to drop you right outside your home or work but sometimes with a little effort we can save money and stop congestion on the roads. I hope that matters to people. A.J. Joehar Agoura Hills |
