Spotlight the Arts

Several weeks ago the L.A. Times Calendar section had an article about the many performing arts venues available to residents in the various suburban communities The point of the article was that we who are in the outlying regions have options other than downtown when it comes to our performing arts choices.

There seemed to be one conspicuous omission in these choices-no performing arts center in Calabasas.

What could possibly make Calabasas an even more special place to live? Our own lively performing arts center where professional as well as local artists would have a venue for theater, concerts, musicals, children's programs and other performing arts options that would enrich the whole community in so many ways.

I have recently become aware of a group of individuals who have formed the organization Spotlight the Arts. They have taken up the challenge to raise funds to build a performing arts center in Calabasas. I wholeheartedly support the Spotlight group in its effort to achieve this very exciting venture.
