Build Lowe's, not more offices

I was pleased to recently learn that the Lowe's Town Center project may be on the November ballot. I was never convinced that the project was actually voted down by the city council. Now we may have an opportunity for the citizens of Westlake Village to decide the fate of the project.

I suspect that none of us anticipated the monster size and general appearance of the Dole hotel project. It is what it is. Across the street, another hotel is currently in the middle of construction. Nearby on Russell Ranch Road are two new huge office buildings. If the Lowe's Town Center project does not become a reality, you can expect to see four to six more huge office buildings on that parcel of land.

If you have not noticed the two huge office buildings (how can you not), I urge you to drive down Russell Ranch Road to check them out. Then visualize four to six more such buildings. Suddenly, the Lowe's Town Center project looks better and better.

The Town Center is clearly preferable to six to eight huge office buildings in the same general location. Michael L. Botsford Westlake Village
