Girls' harmony singing group now forming

The Channelaire Chorus, an award-winning women's choral group with members from throughout Ventura County, is once again offering high school or middle school girls a chance to learn more about singing four-part a cappella harmony and performing in front of a live audience.

The 12-week summertime program will be offered from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, June 21 through Sept. 13, 2006 at the Channelaire Chorus rehearsal hall, 701 Del Norte Ave., Ste. 115, Oxnard. Interested girls are asked to arrive at 5:30 p.m. on June 21. The ability to read music is not required.

Early registration is encouraged as space is limited. A $10 registration fee (payable the first night) covers the cost of music and learning tapes. For more information, call (805) 983-1072 and leave a name and phone number. A chorus member will call back with details and directions. Those interested may visit www.channelaire.org for more information.

After 12 weeks of instruction and rehearsal, participants will showcase what they have learned as part of the chorus' annual fall concert on Sept. 17 in the Kavli Theatre at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.

The Channelaire Chorus is a registered chapter of Sweet Adelines International, a worldwide organization of women singers committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education and performances.
