     A quick-thinking pizza delivery man helped police track down David Mark, a 42-year-old Camarillo resident, who was arrested Sat., June 3 on manslaughter charges after he was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run accident in Camarillo that killed a 19-monthold toddler, authorities said.

Determined to have fun
     BILL SPARKES/Acorn Newspapers PERSEVERANCE-Matthew Smith, 4, of Thousand Oaks, has the determined look of a marathoner as he starts the 1K run at the Senior Concerns Love Run recently in Westlake Village. About 600 runners participated in the fundraiser to benefit Meals on Wheels. The event also included 5K and 10K runs.

Women walk in honor of lost friend
     Forty-one women will keep the memory of teacher Barbara Alaynick alive while walking to raise money for breast cancer research, education and treatment. Alaynick, a beloved A.E. Wright Middle School instructor, died in February from breast cancer.

Broadway melodies sung at school
     SAY IT WITH SONG- Sumac Elementary School fourth graders sing "Seasons of Love" from the Broadway musical, "Rent," during the school's Broadway Review show June 1. The show featured singing and dancing from such shows as "Bye, Bye Birdie," "Peter Pan," "Grease," "Mary Poppins" and others. Ticket sales raised money for the Sumac's Parent Faculty Association. Executive producer was Karen Hansen and Jessica Nimoy produced the show.

Elementary students visit Soka
     BE OUR GUEST-Soka University of America graduate students host third-graders from Flory Elementary School in Moorpark as part of a two-part program designed to foster cultural understanding and awareness. The elementary students enjoyed a nature hike and tour of the Gensley garden. One week later, the Flory students returned the favor, hosting the Soka grads on their campus, treating them to lunch and musical entertainment.
