Signing off

I read with interest recently about Calabasas' regulations restricting the erection of signs in the city without proper pre-authorization. Most homeowners associations have similar restrictions on the erection of signs on common area properties.

Recently, election signs for Assembly candidate Julia Brownley have been appearing on the common area lawns of Country Creek Lane in Calabasas. The board has had to repeatedly remove them.

The signs are a blight on our community. Freedom of speech does not allow certain individuals or parties to erect signs in violation of city ordinances or homeowner association regulations.

We would ask this candidate and others to respect the rights of all residents and direct her overly zealous supporters to desist from the further erection of election signs without proper advance permission. Randall L. Harvey Country Creek Lane HOA
