Senior will be called to Torah for second bar mitzvah

According to the Psalmist, a man's life is "three score and 10 years, or by reason of strength four score years."

From this perspective, 70 years is considered a full lifetime. When one is blessed with another 13 years, arriving at age 83, there is a tradition celebrating a person's second bar mitzvah.

Temple Beth Haverim will honor Jack Stein, who has been an exemplary member of the community. Stein will be called to the Torah for his second bar mitzvah.

The temple also will celebrate the adult b'nai Torah of Linda Gayle, Risa Leonard and Musical Director Eileen Weiser.

The service will take place on Shavuot, Sat., June 3 from 9:30 a.m. until noon. All are welcome to join Rabbi Gershon Johnson, Cantor Kenny Ellis and the Temple Beth Haverim congregation.
