The volleyball season came to an abrupt end for the Westlake Warriors at home last Friday against Santa Margarita in the CIF-SS Division I quarterfinals.

After winning the first game, the Warriors couldn't maintain momentum, eventually losing the match 25-17, 19-25, 15-25, 15-25.

Senior outside hitter Joey Zuziak finished with a teamhigh 12 kills in defeat. He had 16 kills in the team's first-round win.

Although it was a disappointing end in front of their home crowd, the Warriors' year was still very successful.

WHS won the Marmonte League championship, going undefeated in league and twice beating 2005 title winner Thousand Oaks.

Westlake finished the year with a 26-4 overall record and was ranked as high as No. 3 in the CIF coaches' poll.
