Agoura High parents cook up fundraiser to support school

By Stephanie Bertholdo bertholdo@theacorn.com

Forget bake sales, ice cream days and pizza nights to raise extra funds for schools. The Agoura High School Parent Faculty Club is publishing a cookbook with about 300 favorite recipes submitted by teachers, students, families and friends from coast to coast.

Does Crock-Pot Kahlua Pork sound tantalizing? Try serving it with Cinco de Mayo bread, Sweet Potato Spinach Salad, followed by Gitchi Gitchi Ya Ya Pralines for dessert and your meal is complete. A beverage called the Insomnia Special For One promises to provide a quick kick.

Advance sales for the unique cookbook already have begun. If purchased by June 15, the cookbook will cost $13.50. After the presale, it will cost $15.

"All money raised by the (parent faculty club) goes directly to classrooms to pay for salaries for teacher specialists that the school district cannot fund, to purchase textbooks, supplementary materials, audiovisual equipment and materials, teacher conferences and other items requested by teachers to improve learning for our children," cookbook project chair and PFC board member Ziona Friedlander said.

"These will make wonderful gifts for the upcoming graduate," Friedlander said.

The price for orders of 10 or more cookbooks is $12.75 each. Checks can be written to AHS

PFC and mailed to Ziona Friedlander, 6322 Fenworth Court, Agoura Hills CA 91301.
