Pie giveaway for donors

United Blood Services of the Central Coast has announced that 1,700 blood donations are needed in the Ventura County area before the Memorial Day weekend to prepare for an increasing need for blood beginning with the Memorial Day holiday and into early summer.

They have teamed up with the Marie Callender's restaurant chain to distribute coupons for a free whole pie to each blood donor through Fri., June 9.
