A variety of events and performances are planned at the Agoura Hills Library.
At 6:30 p.m. on Wed., May 24 the community is invited to celebrate the 250th birthday of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The "Opera Tales" program will retell stories of Mozart's most famous operas, including "The Magic Flute." Four arias will be performed by the Los Angeles Opera.
A special guest narrator will be joined by Opera Pals, singing various arias and acting out some of the key scenes in the story. Refreshments will be provided. The performance is appropriate for families.
If you have children who plan to apply to college, the Agoura Hills Public Library has an "Admissions Update: What You Need To Know Before Applying To College" seminar scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tues., May 23.
Audrey Kahane, an independent college counselor and "College Corner" columnist for The Acorn, will discuss why college admission is much more competitive today, what students can do in high school to be prepared for college, finding the right college for the right student, SAT or ACT-which test is best for students and how to prepare-and more.
Spring Storytime continues weekly through June 14 and features stories, music and crafts. Toddler time (ages 1 to 2) is Mondays at 11:30 a.m.; preschool time (ages 3 to 5) is at 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Every Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m., the library is offering "Computers for Beginners." Participants will learn how to use the mouse, search the Internet and the library online catalogue. For reservations call Ted Liebler at (818) 889-2278.
The Book Cellar is open every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. offering books for children and adults, Books-on-Tape, CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes and more. Paperback books start at 50 cents and hardcover books at $1.
