Westlake's Krems wins tennis title

Mitch Krems, 12, of Westlake, lost only three games and won the United States Tennis Association boys' 12 singles final at the 55th Annual Central California Tennis Tournament, held in Bakersfield last month.

Krems, seeded No. 1, bested second seed Corey Karen of Camarillo in the finals, 6-0 and 6-2.

In other play, Sivan Krems, 10, competed up in the girls' 12 singles

competition and upset second seed Grace Jacobs of Bakersfield in the semifinals, 6-2 and 6-4, to make it to the finals against Nipomo's Abigail Will, who beat Krems, 64 and 6-1.

Sivan Krems teamed with Tori Sanford of Westlake to win the girls' 12 doubles title, defeating the top-seeded team of Sophia Whittle and Abigail Will from Nipomo, 6-2 and 6-0 in the final.

Top seed Zach Drost of Westlake won the boys' 14 singles final, beating No. 2 seed Josh Gartman of Woodland Hills, 6-2 and 6-2.

Drost teamed with Evan Sandlin of Moorpark to honor their No. 2 seeding, losing in the finals of the boys' 16 doubles competition, 6-1 and 6-3, to the top-seeded team of Connor Karen (Camarillo) and Matthew Will (Nipomo).
