Acorn sportswriter recognized by CNPA

Acorn reporter Kyle Jorrey received honorable mention as a finalist in the 2006 California Newspapers Publishers Association awards.

In the category of best sports story, Jorrey was recognized for his June 2005 feature article, "Destiny Driven," the story of

Guinness world record holder and Westlake High School graduate Tasha-Nicole Terani, a gifted soccer player and accomplished model who nearly died at birth and was later brought by her adopted family from Iran to America. "It's the American dream,

with a twist," Jorrey said. "Tasha is one of those subjects who is an inspiration to write about."
