Medea Creek students win Marian Huhn award
air recognized for academic excellence and dedication to community service
EXCEPTIONAL-Danielle Gold, left, and Molly Rosenberg receive plaques for achieving academic excellence while contributing to the community. Both students attend Medea Creek Middle School in Oak Park. Danielle Gold and Molly Rosenberg were chosen as recipients of California Junior Scholarship Federation's Marian Huhn Award which is presented to students who have not only displayed excellence in their studies, but have also served their school and participated extensively in community service.
Each girl was awarded an engraved plaque, certificate and a grant of $200.
Danielle and Molly attend Medea Creek Middle School in Oak Park and represented the school at the Federation's annual south central regional conference along with their advisor, Jean Martin.
The daylong conference, held at Ernest Righetti High School in Santa Maria on April 22, was attended by junior and senior high school students and administrators from across the state.
They participated in workshops on a variety of topics including leadership, community service and interpersonal activities along with other students from the region.
Molly is vice president of the school's Federation chapter and involved with student government and youth volunteer activities. Danielle is president of the chapter, and created a CD and video recycling program benefiting needy families while maintaining a 4.0 grade average.
