Pay attention to bicyclists

I read the letter last week about bicyclists "hogging" the road. As a bicyclist training to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, I found this letter quite offensive. Not only do we obey all traffic laws, we have to be continually looking out for all the cars who want to show us how powerful and aggressive they can be. We see no signal when they go into our bicycle lane, cars are constantly not making full stops, trying to see how close they can get to us, honking horns, and it goes on.

We are not demanding equal rights, just safety. Driving in a car, one may not realize we have to avoid glass, pot holes, rocks, joggers, etc.

Please look out for us. We are very vulnerable.
