A healthy thanks to the local hospital

Too often we hear horror stories about patients' experiences in the hospital. I am writing to compliment, laud and extol our Los Robles Hospital. I spent one week in the main facility and almost two more in the East Campus Rehab. I was so impressed with the coordination of Dr. Philip Barry's office and the hospital. Each person I saw for my pre-op appointments explained to me what was happening, why and what or who I was to see next. I felt so cared for and about. This gave me a sense of security.

I had a complete hip replacement. Following surgery, my leg was in a traction sling along with circulation apparatuses on both legs. I was truly helpless for the first few days and nights. The staff was always ready to help me with smiles on their faces, no matter the time of day or night. Each staff member who took care of me, from the maintenance people, student nurses, certified nursing assistants, physical and occupational therapists, nurses and doctors, were amazing.

Los Robles has instituted a safety feature to dispense the proper medication to each patient. We all had bracelets with universal price code numbers which corresponded to the numbers on our individually packaged medications. Before anything was administered, a scanner was used to check both me and my medication. This is quite an innovation for the safety of the patients.

Our "jewel" is expanding to meet the growing needs of our community. We are incredibly fortunate to have this facility right here to take care of our every medical need. Bravo to CEO Jim Sherman and his entire staff. Robin Feldman Westlake Village
