Beth Haverim hosts discussion with Jewish political leaders

Paul Kujawsky Paul Kujawsky Two Jewish political leaders representing different viewpoints on domestic issues, foreign policy and Israel will speak Fri., May 19, at Temple Beth Haverim in Agoura Hills.

Larry Greenfield, director of the California Republican Jewish Coalition, and Paul Kujawsky, past president of Democrats for Israel, Los Angeles, will discuss a wide range of current events from a Jewish perspective.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for our community to hear the views of two noted Jewish leaders in our state and for people to make up their own minds about where they stand on these issues," said Diana Turk, event organizer.

The Republican Jewish Coalition, with 10 chapters statewide, is billed as the nation's fastest-growing movement of Jewish Republicans. Based in Washington, D.C., the group's mission is to foster ties between the American Jewish community and the GOP and to promote strong national security for the United States and a strong alliance with Israel.

Greenfield grew up in Encino and attended the University of California at Berkeley and the Georgetown University Law Center. Greenfield also worked in United States naval intelligence and often lectures on American foreign policy.

Larry Greenfield Larry Greenfield Paul Kujawsky is past president of Democrats for Israel, Los Angeles, and an executive board member of the California Democratic Party. He was chosen 2001 Democrat of the Year by the Los Angeles Democratic Party. He is a member of the Holy Land Democracy Project which created an Israel curriculum for Los Angeles Catholic high schools.

Educated at Yale University and UC Davis Law School, Kujawsky is passionate about human rights. In the mid 1990s the California Democratic Party adopted his resolution calling for President Clinton to lift an arms embargo against Bosnian muslims.

A Shabbat dinner will be held at 6 p.m., prior to the service and talk. The service will be at 7:30 p.m., followed by the discussion at 8 p.m.
