Local entertainer, volunteer, die

Conejo Valley recently lost a long-time volunteer and popular magician when Chris De Palma of Westlake Village suddenly passed away. De Palma, 49, suffered an aortic blood clot on Sat., March 25.

A magician who specialized in comedy and mind reading, De Palma was a featured performer at the Magic Castle in Hollywood and on "Magic & Beyond . . . " an internationally syndicated television show. He performed at various events for such companies as Disney, Amgen, Bank of America

and Coca Cola. De Palma also performed for a holiday party held by the Acorn Newspapers for its employees several years ago.

A Newbury Park native, De Palma was involved in several local organizations as a volunteer, including Hospice of the Conejo and Calvary Community Church, where he was a member. De Palma also was a member of the Thousand Oaks-Westlake Village Regional Chamber of Commerce.

"We will miss him," said the Chamber's Marilee Parlier.
