Chamber welcomes governor's rep

Chamber members and the public are invited to meet Karen A. Kukurin, deputy director and community liaison for Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, at the chamber's luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thurs., May 25 at the Calabasas Inn, 23500 Park Sorrento in Calabasas.

The cost for the luncheon is $25 for members and $30 for nonmembers and those without reservations.

Based in Los Angeles, Kukurin acts as a conduit between the community and Sacramento.

Previously, she served as vice president of communications for the Employers Group, overseeing legislation and legal advocacy programs for one of the nation's largest human resources management associations. In this position, she oversaw the organization's statewide Legislative Action Committees and interfaced with lobbyists at state and federal levels to introduce business-friendly legislation.

Kurkurin headed her own Beverly Hills-based public relations firm.
