No village vision

The Agoura Village Plan has none of what is stated in its own vision plan.

+Make it a place where residents can gather and meet, but where? Waiting for tables in restaurants? Where is the town circle, open-air market, or community garden?

+Generate regional appeal. The frustration of massive traffic and a chaotic roundabout on Kanan and Agoura roads will quickly have visitors fleeing. +Create an entertainment/family oriented area. The Agoura Hills City Council voted down a mini-golf and recreation center for Canwood Street near McDonalds. They instead crammed in high-density town homes and commercial development and are planning to do the same on Agoura Road if you don't call to stop them. +Acknowledge the area as the gateway to the Santa Monica Mountains. Kanan and Agoura roads should reflect the values of nature, preservation, and conservation.

If this were not bad enough, the environmental impact report for the project is woefully inadequate as documented by many governmental agencies. What did your planning commission do? They voted 5-0 to certify it anyway.

Please call your city now at (818) 597-7300 and fax to (818) 597-7341 to oppose the Agoura Village plan. Mary Altmann Agoura Hills
