Agoura Hills isn't helping

I read the article in last week's Acorn on the Las Virgenes Education Foundation. It's great that the foundation helps the schools. In the article, school board member Dave Moorman says the school district, unlike other districts, is not eligible for certain grants and funding and that the district requires additional funding from outside sources.

Why haven't the board members and Stuart Selter of the foundation asked the city of Agoura Hills to contribute? Calabasas has given over $2 million to the school foundation the past few years while Agoura Hills has not given any finds.

What is the foundation and board of education afraid of? Why aren't they persistent with the city? They travel to San Diego to get funding but they can't go down the street to Agoura Hills?

I thought the "new" city council in Agoura Hills was supposed to be more education and business friendly. What happened? Arnold Lioy Westlake Village

Editor's note: Over the past four years, the city of Agoura Hills has contributed more than $1 million to the school district in grants, improvements, program support and other special projects.
