WOMEN RIDERS-A series of events scheduled at Conejo Creek Equestrian Park in Thousand Oaks will explore "psychology-based" horsemanship for women. The demonstrations are open to men as well as women but will focus on the ways women respond to equestrian situations. Karen Scholl will provide a series of teaching events to help equestriennes gain more confidence around their horses. She will be demonstrating her "Horsemanship for Women" techniques from Thurs., May 18 to Sun., May 21 at Conejo Creek Equestrian Park in Thousand Oaks.

Scholl said that "Horsemanship for Women" does not exclude men but her approach focuses specifically on how women learn and respond to specific situations.

At 6 p.m. Thurs., May 18 Scholl will present a free demonstration open to the public at the arena. She'll provide a brief overview of "PsychologyBased Horsemanship."

At 9 a.m. Fri., May 19 the first of three consecutive days of clinics will begin. Partici

pants bring their own horses to learn with at the clinics. The morning class is called "Riding from the Ground Foundation Clinic" and involves learning how to "get inside a horse's mind" so as to anticipate its behavior by understanding its "point of view."

At 1 p.m. each day the Riding from Above Advancing Clinic will be presented. Taught in the saddle, the goal of this clinic is to help the rider develop a bond of confidence and trust between herself and her horse.

Scholl will permit Corral 37 members to audit the clinics at no charge.
