Concert celebrates family life

Los Angeles-based singer/ songwriter Brian Joseph will present a concert, "Music to Celebrate Families," in honor of Mother's Day at Skirball Cultural Center. His show will be from 4 to 5:15 p.m. Sun., May 7 in the center's outdoor amphitheater, 2701 N. Sepulveda Blvd., Los Angeles.

Tickets range from $4 to $8 and should be purchased in advance by calling TicketWeb at (866) 4683399 or at the Skirball Admissions Desk.

Joseph's songs celebrate parenthood, families and mothers-tobe with music, humor and passion. His show is appropriate for children 1 year and older with an adult.

The Skirball will be hosting additional family concerts. From 11

a.m. to noon on Sun., May 21, the Crosspulse Percussion Quintet will perform in a show suitable for ages 5 and up with an adult.

From 11 a.m. to noon on Sun., June 25, Trinidadian performing artist Asheba brings his Putumayo Kids Reggae Playground to the Skirball in a show geared for ages 3 and up with an adult. With his Caribbean, reggae, call-and-response arrangements and impromptu ditties, Asheba spreads stories of hope and happiness for children of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.
