Upcoming events at Valley Interfaith

Valley Interfaith Council will host a National Day of Prayer event from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight, Thurs., May 4 at St. Michaels and All Angels Episcopal Church, 3646 Coldwater Canyon Ave., Studio City.

According to Nancy Bevins of the council, this year's theme

s "America, Honor God."

The Interfaith Relations Committee of the Valley Interfaith Council will participate in a "Sacred Tour" of the Bahai Faith Center, 4830 Genesta Ave., Encino at 7 p.m. Sun., May 7.

The Valley Interfaith Council will celebrate and honor those who promote "Harmony in Diversity" in the community as poitical, business and community eaders and involved citizens

gather for dinner, dancing and a live auction at 7 p.m. Thurs., May 11 in the grand ballroom at the Ararat Complex, 15105 Mission Hills Road, Mission Hills.

A special reception at 6 p.m. will recognize Barry Smedberg for his years of service to San Fernando Valley residents.

Smedberg will receive the Steve Allen Spirit of the Valley Award, the council's highest honor given for significant contributions to area residents.

Smedberg is retiring after nearly 18 years as council president.
