Variety show to display young talent

Get ready for another night of entertainment and fun at Lindero Canyon Middle School in Agoura Hills.

Principal Ronal Kaiser and master of ceremonies Don Stark, a Lindero parent who appears as Bob Pinciott on "That '70s Show," will host the third annual Lindero Late Night Variety Show at 7 p.m. Fri., April 28 in the gymnasium at Lindero Canyon Middle School.

The performances will showcase the youths' talent, said Stark. "The students are really amazingly talented and the show shows off a diversity of talent and ability," he said.

The evening will feature a jazz band, strings, individual performers who sing and dance, and more. Funny commercials, video skits and a top 10 list illustrating the students' wonderful and creative work are also slated, Stark said.

The students also have an opportunity to learn about the technical aspects of putting on a show as they help with lighting and sound.

While reading, writing and arithmetic are important, without art, education wouldn't be complete, said the actor. Programs like the variety show offer an opportunity for all the students to perform and do things they want to do even if they're not in a regular program, said Stark

While budget cuts commonly force schools to eliminate the arts first, the arts provide a much-needed creative outlet for youth.
