SALT-N-PEPA?-Leonis Adobe Museum in Calabasas is sponsoring a contest for residents to name two baby goats who recently arrived. The sisters are 3-month-old female Nubians. The Leonis Adobe Museum has announced the arrival of two baby goats and is inviting the public to name the new additions.

Visitors to the museum may submit names through Mon., May 15. The winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to the museum's gift store. All ages may enter the contest to name the pair of 3-month-old baby Nubian goats.

Animals at the Leonis Adobe Museum live in a natural ranch setting and help educate people on why livestock was important to ranchers like Miguel Leonis during the 1800s.

"Goats on the ranch came from a variety of breeds," said general manager Angela Schwanz.“Different breeds were used for milk, cheese, meat and reproduction."

The two does join sheep, longhorn cattle, oxen, poultry and horses on view at the working rancho.

During the summer, the Leonis Adobe Museum provides an opportunity for children to help feed many of the ranch animals, which this summer will include the baby goats.

The Leonis Adobe Museum was the ranch of Miguel Leonis and his native American wife, Espiritu, who died 100 years ago this year.

The museum is at 23537 Calabasas Road in Old Town Calabasas.Museum hours are Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, from 1 to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
