Disappointed that the STAR has fallen

I can't believe it. What a shock to hear of the cancellation of the sheriff's STAR program in Agoura. I have to say that I believe this program has done wonderful things for the kids and families of Agoura.

Both of my daughters went to this camp for three years. My oldest daughter, who is now in her third year of college, went to the camp. She went on to volunteer as a counselor for this program. Dep. Joe Grasso was a major influence in my daughter's life. She is now enrolled in a criminal justice program because she always admired the deputies who were always around her elementary and middle school.

It was a wonderful thing to learn that both of my daughters went to Dep. Grasso to talk about peer pressure and family issues that were affecting them. It was wonderful to know they had someone they could trust and share some of their concerns.
