Westlake High dance team presents hip-hop workshop

The Westlake High School Dance Team is offering a hiphop dance workshop for youth ages 5 through 13 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sat., May 20 at Westlake High School, 100 N. Lakeview Canyon Road, Westlake Village. Check-in will begin at 8:45 a.m.

Participants will go through a warm-up with the dance team and then learn some exercises and simple dance moves. The students will also learn a short dance to perform with the team members at a Parent Showcase from noon to 12:30 p.m.

No dance experience is required for the workshop. Dancers will be divided into groups by age and prior dance experience. All groups will perform at the showcase.

Dancers should wear dance clothes, sweats or stretchy shorts,

and dance or athletic shoes. Snacks and drinks will be provided, although dancers should bring water bottles for themselves.

The dance team has won five consecutive championship titles in national competitions on both the east and west coast. Team members had dance experience before high school.

Space is limited, so participants are encouraged to pre-register by Mon., May 15. Late registration will be available at the door if space is available.
